We all started somewhere. For me it was a Canon Rebel with a kit lens and some friends who were willing to take a chance. I would have never graduated from that level if it weren’t for the incredible mentors in my life. People who gave me their secrets, shared their business knowledge and invested their time in me. Besides actually taking photos – my passion is in teaching. I love nothing more than helping others reach their goals and find the same joy and passion in photography that I have.
These mentor sessions are great because they can be as dialed in and personalized as you’d like. There is no topic off limits and you design what we discuss. We talk once before the session to get an idea of what you’d like to learn about and then when we’re together I promise to be an open book. We can talk about pricing, client interaction, post-processing … whatever suits you! There are different price tiers for mentor sessions that can also include a portrait session to help build your brand.
2 Hour Online Session:
Basically – I am an open book. You let me know ahead of time what topics you’d like to cover and we will Skype and screen share from wherever you’re located. This can be about editing, running a business, posing … etc. We can also use this time to go over your work, your website or anything that you’d like.
2 Hour In-Person Session:
Includes everything that the online session provides – except in-person at my house complete with my pup McCoy and some yummy treats I provide. We would also do a tiny mini session where I take some photos of you so you have some professional ones for your website :)
4 Hour In-Person Session:
Same as the two hour option – however we also have a couple come and we do a live shoot. You can see how I work with them, pose them and then afterwork we work on editing the images together. You can also take the time to take some photos yourself. I’ll make sure they are a super cute duo so you’ll have some great photos to add to your portfolio. I will also snap a few photos of you.
Wyn Wylie, Ellie Be and myself teamed up to create The Own It Workshop in the winter of 2016. The workshop focuses on the idea of owning who you are as a person and an artist and letting that come out in your business. We cover topics like turning your uniqueness into a brand, interacting with your clients in a way only you can, mastering a flow to shoots, how failure can be a good thing and running a business smoothly.
There are also live shoots to hone in on our learning and creativity as well as community building activities, themed meals and other fun stuff that can only happen at a photography workshop. We want our attendees to leave a better and more confident photographer, a more full human and creating art that is utterly truly you.
We’ve done two workshops in Colorado and one in California and we are hoping to have a fourth in 2018! Make sure you follow us on Instagram to be the first to know when it’s launched! @ownitworkshop
