Uhl Sisters

It was nasty outside. Not the kind of rain that you can avoid or take pictures in … and not notice. It was the kind of rain/sleet/snow that sticks to your face, makes your mascara run and absolutely chills you to your bone. Not the kind of day to take pictures. But when you’re given one shot to take photos of three sisters who live across the country from each other you just have to make it happen. I couldn’t have done this alone. Kellyn, Caitlin and Coreen are such wonderful people. I don’t think they complained once as I dragged them into a random field on MSU’s campus, made them run through some farm mud and into a forest that was full of weird spare tires and barbed wire. I still don’t get it. But, we went with it.

Kellyn, Caitlin and Coreen come from the same Mom and Dad but from my quick time getting to know them they were each given incredibly different and beautiful qualities. I don’t have the authority to try and explain their personalities to you … but that’s what the pictures are for. Their styles and their interactions with each other are SO genuine. These are three ladies who know who they are, and live it loud. And that’s what I loved so much about them. They were SO real. Their relationship with each other was real and it shows. There was no embarrassment or worry of wet and windy hair or anything. They were just happy to be together. And that’s how it should be.

And a plug that I just have to give … Kellyn (the one with the amazing haircut) is an amazingly talented photographer among other things (acting, singing, dancing, making home videos, dancing in her own home videos … I mean seriously, you give this girl a task and she totally owns it). Her and her friend Emma in NYC have started a new company, ARI UZI CO. and they completely blow the world of headshots and creative photography out of the water. Make sure to check out their intro video and the rest of their site. It’s well worth your time. xo.
