You have no idea how happy and excited I am to share these with you all.
When Colleen from Inspired to Share (the cutest/freshest blog you’ll ever lay eyes on — go look!) contacted me about collaborating there was no question, I was hopping on over Lake Michigan as soon as I could (she lives in Milwaukee). At first we had talked about doing a fashion shoot, maybe focusing on the lovely moody setting of the Third Ward in downtown Milwaukee … but as we got talking our attention shifted more and more toward moody portraiture. Portraiture where, it does not matter where the subject is, because the whole focus of the photograph IS the subject. Colleen was kind enough (and she’s clearly a babe, duh!) to be photographed in this moody/raw and very vulnerable way.
Often times with engagements and weddings, I don’t get to take my time and really think about each shot before I take it. I just shoot shoot shoot grabbing every candid moment possible. With Colleen, this was totally different. Composing every shot and thinking hard about our purpose, it was a whole new experience. And I’m pretty sure we nailed it. This was such a refreshing break for me, to remember why I love photography so much, and that creating art is just something that gets my heart pumping. Thanks to Colleen for willingly let me photograph her, and for bring so many amazing ideas to the table. She is such a creative mind and it was such a joy to work with her.
So, without further ado, here is Colleen. As raw as you’ve ever seen her.
Share some love! (Check out her favorites here!)
