Vacation. There’s something to be said about vacation. No schedule, no “to-do’s”, freedom, personal picture taking, eating, sleeping, enjoying and living. Jake and I just got back from visiting our family friends, the Hughes. Nancy and Jeff are the best hosts. From Nancy’s killer breakfasts to one-of-a-kind restaurant visits … let’s just say I felt like we were treated like royalty. I don’t think I’ve eaten food that good in my life, ever. I made a point on this trip to try and notice the little things in life I appreciate. The way people laugh, the shadows that trees make, the soft and desaturated palette of the desert, the fresh color of vegetables, the mountains, the sky, the road … and so much more. I am so thankful for all the people in my life. I am thankful for surprises (like how Charlie, my almost-brother came to Arizona with his girlfriend to surprise me). I am thankful for family. And I am thankful for vacations. Thank you Nancy and Hughesie for letting us crash at your house and for showing us the city in the most remarkable way. We can’t wait to come back.
